Between the City and the Park: A Creative Response to the Density Challenge
The HaMoshia Kindergarten Cluster in Tel Aviv's Hatikva neighborhood is located on a compact 2.2 dunam urban site and accommodates 16 kindergarten classrooms. The project was born out of the need to expand early childhood education facilities within a dense urban environment. Situated between HaYarden School and Gan Hatikva, the complex was designed as a sheltered, green setting, somewhat removed from the bustle of the city and directly connected to the adjacent park. To make efficient use of the limited site, the program is organized vertically in a four-story structure. Two buildings form two separate clusters, and each classroom has its own adjoining terrace. The terraces are enclosed by colorful nets for safety and shade, allowing children to play and learn outdoors even on the upper floors. The main entrance faces Gan Hatikva, strengthening the connection between the complex and the public park while creating a green arrival and waiting experience for children and parents.
