Eclectic History in the Heart of the City
Talpiot School, built in 1926 in the heart of the Merkaz Ba'alei Malakha neighborhood, is one of the architectural landmarks of early Tel Aviv. Designed by architect Dov Hershkovitz in an eclectic style, the three-story building is composed of two wings of different character: a symmetrical, vertically articulated front wing, and a rear wing characterized by broad arches and horizontal proportions. The project was born of the desire to preserve the historic building as part of the city center conservation plan, while continuing its educational use as an active kindergarten cluster.
Meticulous Preservation and Contemporary Education
As part of the project, the building underwent a comprehensive preservation and restoration process aimed at renewing the kindergarten cluster that has operated on the site since the 1990s. The intervention carefully preserved the original architectural features and the exterior envelope, alongside a new interior layout adapted to contemporary educational needs.
