Conservation and Revitalization of Architectural Heritage
The Strauss Health Center, located at 14 Balfour Street in Tel Aviv, was established in 1929 and designed by architect Binyamin Chaikin in the eclectic style. As part of the comprehensive conservation project completed in 2023, the building was meticulously restored to return it to its original glory and preserve its historical values. The exterior works included recreating the original plaster shades based on the documentation file, repairing the decorative cornices, replacing the gutters with zinc gutters, and removing non-original additions and infrastructure systems, which were concealed and integrated inside the building.
Internal Renewal and Auditorium Upgrade
Alongside the meticulous exterior conservation, the building's interior spaces underwent a significant upgrade to adapt them to modern standards and needs. The interior works included the installation of acoustic ceilings in the corridors, the renovation of the public restrooms, and a comprehensive and thorough renovation of the auditorium. The auditorium was redesigned featuring acoustic wood-wool wall and ceiling cladding, the integration of exposed air conditioning ducts, and the exposure and restoration of the original windows, creating a harmonious balance between the historical character of the space and contemporary functionality.
