An Integrated Urban Space in the Shapira Neighborhood
In the heart of the Shapira neighborhood, between Yisrael Masalant and Golomb streets, a multi-purpose public building was designed on the grounds of the "Beit Yaakov" school. The project addresses a significant topographical challenge of an approximately 9-meter height difference between the streets by creating separate and accessible entrances from different levels. The building incorporates two essential public uses: on the ground floor, which is connected to the school complex, three new kindergarten classrooms are planned, while on the lower floor (-1), facing Golomb Street, a new community center ("Golomb Center") will operate, featuring a youth center, study spaces, and activity rooms for the benefit of the neighborhood's residents.
Sustainable Design and Environmental Development
The building's design is characterized by clean lines with light plaster cladding and the integration of colored glass panels that cast a colorful shadow on the main facade facing Golomb Street. The building's roof is designed to serve as an open activity space (active roof) for the school's students, incorporating shaded areas and preparation for the installation of solar panels. The project places great emphasis on green building principles and environmental development, including ensuring a high energy rating, natural infiltration areas, and extensive planting in the building's vicinity, all with a forward-looking vision that also allows for the addition of two extra floors if necessary.
