Sea, City, and Marine Education
Located along Tel Aviv's beachfront as part of the Mandarin Oriental development, the new Water Sports Center is designed to strengthen the connection between the city and the coastline while providing a public setting for educational, community, and marine activities. The program includes classrooms, a marine laboratory, a multipurpose hall, offices, and changing and preparation areas for water-based activities. The interior draws inspiration from the sea, using durable materials such as polished concrete and Betonda wall cladding. In the lobby, a wave-patterned ceiling made from recycled materials introduces a softer element while referencing the movement of water. Deep blue tones are incorporated into exposed corridor ceilings and epoxy flooring, while the classrooms provide calmer learning environments with acoustic ceilings and timber partitions. The material palette was selected to create a functional, durable, and welcoming environment suited to its coastal setting.
