A Renewed Cultural Anchor
Located in the heart of the Hatikva neighborhood, Dohl Center is a long-standing cultural institution in Tel Aviv and the city's second-largest auditorium after Heichal HaTarbut. The original building, designed in 1985 by Barhana Architects in the Brutalist style, underwent changes and restoration over the years, including after a Scud missile strike during the 1991 Gulf War. Over time, the building required a comprehensive upgrade to contemporary standards of comfort, acoustics, and technology, while maintaining its role as a center for culture and the arts for the residents of southern Tel Aviv and the surrounding area.
A New Standard of Experience
The renovation included a comprehensive renewal of the interior spaces and the building envelope. At the heart of the project is the performance hall, which was thoroughly upgraded, including a significant improvement in sound quality and viewing conditions. Approximately 620 new, spacious seats were installed, along with advanced lighting and sound systems. The entrance lobby was also redesigned as a contemporary and inviting public space, with a new cafeteria and lounge areas for before and after performances.
