The Yad LaBanim House project in Ness Ziona is located on Moshe Levi Street, within a civic precinct characterized by a series of public buildings, including an Eshkol Pais center, conservatory, and sports hall. Over time, these buildings became physically disconnected from one another, enclosed by perimeter fencing and lacking a clear relationship to the street. The result was an urban "backyard" with little public activity or sense of arrival. The project sought not only to create a new memorial building, but also to reshape the surrounding public realm. By removing separating fences, the design establishes a central and accessible plaza that connects the existing public functions and creates a shared civic space for the community. A new three-story building accommodates a memorial hall, auditorium, and senior citizens' club, bringing everyday cultural and community activity into dialogue with remembrance. An external "Memory Colonnade," inscribed with the names of the fallen, forms the project's primary connecting element and guides visitors toward the central plaza. Together with new pedestrian routes and renewed entrances to the surrounding buildings, the intervention creates a continuous cultural, sports, and leisure axis, transforming the previously fragmented complex into an active civic center for the city's residents.
